Volgograd area. District Bykovo.

Anniversary. October 2006.

BYKOVO is the birthplace of all Russian watermelons (if you are ready to trust sellers in the markets). Because it is the brand, the quality symbol.

I was on the main square district centre when it was celebrated the anniversary. Fifty years back, during construction of the Volga HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION, inhabitants had to abandon the Bykovy Farms, sentenced to become a bottom of the sea. Already equipped houses of contemporary Bykov`s kiddies were erected and equiped by contemporary Bykov`s old men.

They recollected and longed under cheerful concert numbers. Latent in rich puff, immigrants from the South fed all with shish kebabs and sweet cotton wool.

Local racers fussed and the small private herd walked at the fringe of settlement.
